Mothers and flowers: an unusual take

In Britain, Mother’s Day is at the dawn of spring and so, noticeably, the flowers start to bloom and the country starts to get colourful again. This normally leads to the majority of Mother’s Day presents being Daffodils or some other spring time flower. I’m here to put a twist on this clichéd tradition.

Lions, Tigers, and Bears (Cushions, Beddings, and Clothes)

Floral patterns! A lot of people might instantly recoil from anything floral patterned however they’d be wrong. A lot of the time floral patterned things can be understated and beautiful and would make great gifts for any Mother. If you know your mother well, you’ll know what she likes and dislikes when it comes to interior decorating and style. Maybe you could think about getting her one of the above in a floral spring-time pattern. The benefits of something like this are that she can keep it for a long time. It’s not something with a short shelf life that will spoil soon after Mother’s Day.

A walk on the calm side

There is no better celebration of the coming of spring then going for a walk in our beautiful woodland. On Mother’s Day afternoon when you’ve taken her for a meal (or even cooked one yourself), go for a drive to a local arboretum or the closest woodland and walk through all the wild flowers and trees. A great idea would be to pick and press wild flowers and leaves. If you bring along the grandchildren it will prove a magical and memorable day for your mother. It will show how much you care and that you’ve gone above and beyond the call of duty for this year’s Mother’s Day.

Encased in metal

Charm bracelets are as popular as they’ve ever been. There’s something charming about them (I’m sorry). Their appeal is down to the fact that it’s something to collect, plus the charms can take on various meanings for the wearer which means that eventually the wearer has a treasured gift that holds memories for years to come and could be passed down from generation to generation. My suggestion would be that you could buy a bracelet with a flower charm attached to signify this special Mother’s Day.

Hopefully this article has got you thinking about potential variations on obvious gifts for Mother’s Day. This will make you feel good when you get to see the look on your mum’s face when she realises that you’ve gone beyond the normal flowers and chocolate route and tried your best to really make this year special for her. If, however, you’re still stuck and are looking for more ideas, click here. Allow yourself to be creative and hopefully you’ll be the envy of your siblings for years to come as you become the firm favourite this Mother’s Day.
